DAMAC Properties’ Chairman Hands Over AED Two Million to ‘Dress One Million Needy Children’ Campaign
Ramadan Initiative Aims to Clothe Deprived Children Around the World
DAMAC Properties Chairman, Hussain Sajwani, has handed over a cheque for AED two million to a campaign to clothe a million deprived children around the world.
The Ramadan initiative was launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Mr. Sajwani, owner and Chairman of DAMAC Properties, the largest luxury private real estate developer in the Middle East, made the contribution as part of the company’s continued support of the Dubai government's efforts to improve the standard of living around the world.
DAMAC Properties’ donation will provide clothing and warmth for more than 50,000 children in need.
"The young are the future of society and it is crucially important to provide the right environment to give them the very best possible start in life," said Mr. Sajwani. "DAMAC Properties has always supported the altruistic efforts of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed to improve the lives of others, particularly during the Holy month of Ramadan."
The clothing campaign was launched in collaboration with the Emirates Red Crescent, a humanitarian organisation set up in 1983. The campaign raised a total of AED 120 million.
Mohammed Abdullah Alhaj Al Zaroni, Manager, UAE Red Crescent, said: “We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of everyone in the UAE to achieve such a huge target for this campaign. The money received will change lives for children all over the world and Mr. Sajwani has made a huge contribution to that goal.”
