Job Title Assistant Manager - Contracts (Commercial)

Duties / Responsibilities:

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The purpose of this job is administration of contractual issues, preparation of contract documentation and negotiation for the upcoming new projects.


PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPOSIBILITIES

-Assist Contracts Manager to carry out but not limited to the following duties and tasks:-
-Overseeing all contractual matters.
-Coordinate, prepare and monitor the preparation of the tender and contract documentation.
-Assist in contractual aspect of tender evaluation.
-Prepare contract documents/agreements and negotiate contract/agreement terms and conditions with contractors / consultants.
-Review contract/agreement documents and contractual correspondence.
-Collate all information and documents required for preparing counter-claims against contractor/consultant in disputes, arbitration and litigation processes.
-Drafting of contractual correspondence and notices for use in substantiating future claims.
-Review and provide contractual advice, and if necessary commercial advice, and assistance in relation to Project claims and variations.
-Any other trouble shooting assignments requested by any other dept as being reasonably within the role of contracts administrator/SQS.


Education

-Degree in QS or Building Economics or Construction Management or equivalent;

Experience

-Min. 10 years of work experience with at least 5 years of site based experience;
-Member of a professional QS institution (such as AIQS, RICS, RISM, CArb);
-Familiar with FIDIC (especially FIDIC 1987);


Skills

Functional & Technical Skills
-Must be able to draft amendments to agreements, settlement agreements, etc.
-Must be able to address and resolve contractual issues/disputes;


Behavioral Skills
-Excellent English language skill (both spoken and written);
-Very organized, systematic and team player.
